Current Tucker and Big Three connections

I think it's a shame to have the Ida Tuckers powered by a GM engine. GM was part of the destruction of Tucker and shouldn't make a cent from anything to do with Tuckers. Some engine from a company not Big Three related would have better, maybe from Europe or Japan.
Same feelings toward the Henry Ford Museum having their Tucker. Ford helped destroy Tucker. What idiot let them buy one ? They don't deserve it.
Henry Ford and IDA's Tucker

Postby jay » Thu Jan 30, 2003 11:10 am

Please keep in mind that IDA Automotive is not a huge manufacturer but a family business that was attempting to make a Tucker replicar available. After makeing 2.5 cars they have found it just isn't cost effective.

In regards to your statement about the Henry Ford Museum and its Tucker:

The Henry Ford Museum is an independent, non-profit educational institution not affiliated with the Ford Motor Company nor the Ford Foundation. It began as a hobby of Henry Ford in the early 1900's when he set out to collect and preserve the ingenuity and resourcefulness made-by average Americans.

The Tucker they have was not purchased but was donated to the museum in 1958.
Henry Ford and IDA's Tucker

Also keep in mind this. If it wasn't for Ford/Lincoln, the Tucker's wouldn't have a steering wheel! The steering wheel was from the 1942 Lincoln Zephyr.
"Ford" museum, Lincoln steering wheel.

I didn't realize about the museum, then the name is a bit misleading. And I'll bet given a chance, Tucker would have changed steering wheels once the persecution began.

According to Phil Egan's bood "Design and Destiny", Lincoln gave the steering wheels to Tucker under the stipulation once the Tucker
Corporation was into production and was supplied with it's own steering wheels, they were all to be replaced.
